Thank you so much for a great book!

As I was reading I couldn't help but think about this being a movie...then, I began to see Tom Hanks as Mack, and loved it.  I pray you can make a movie and would love to see Tom as Mack. JMHO

So glad I finally read it, as a Pastor of a new church plant, I've had MANY people tell me what we are saying is in this book, so thank God I finally got away to read it.  One of the best books I've ever read.

Blessings.

I also loved this book and would like to see it as a movie.

My casting would be - Bruce Willis as Mack & Queen Latifah as God. Hanks, Goldberg or Oprah would really disappoint me.

Certainly not someone as totally decieved as Oprah who has used her fame to decieve many others. She spouts the Tom Cruise/John Travolta New Age Christian science positive thinking garbage. Ever notice that the majority of people who believe that crap are rich and famous? It's pretty easy to be positive when you seemingly have everything. In the end they will have nothing but eternal suffering. I saw a recent magazine cover with John Travolta and his wife on the cover looking sad and the caption said "Overcome by grief" over the death of their son Jett. I wonder how the positive thinking is working for them now? I feel so bad for them because their son is doomed to hell and their foolish religion put him there. I pray that the people who have been decieved into believing these lies from satan will learn that the only way to heaven is through Jesus Christ. I am what you would call a nobody with no riches or fame but I would not trade places with John Travolta, Oprah, or Tom Cruse for one second.

As far as a movie goes I am sure it would be like always where the book is better than the movie. It would be best if the characters were played by unknown actors so people could focus on the message. Of course in the end it will probably have big name actors so that it can rake in tons of money which is God to many people these days. I will read my copy of The Shack many times over but I think I will avoid the movie if it is made.

From the second I read the description of Papa, "Madea" came to mind. I think he is the perfect Papa. He might need to calm down a little (!! Smiley ) but his sense of humor would be ideal for the little humorous touches that are in the book. It would also befit the sense of humor I believe God has.

Madea is Tyler Perry's "sass-spouting, pistol-packing, sixtysomething" alter ego that he plays in movies and plays. She is a 6.5 foot, black grandmother with a great sense of humor and lots of sound advice. It's her loving and caring nature (once you look past the pistol and sass!! In fact the pistol (and chain saw!) usually comes out to protect her loved ones) and the mischievous touch to Madea's character that made me think she would be perfect.
Tyler Perry is a writer, actor and film maker with lots of TV and movie hits in the last few years.

Personally I think the actors should all be unknowns.
It would be very hard, I think, to look past other characters famous actors might have portrayed.
It might be hard to get past one's own personal opinions of the actors themselves (for example, one of the posters was anti-Oprah; they would never be able to see past her to the character she might portray).

Exactly Kris, I think if there is a movie many people may see it who have never read the book and be led astray by a famous actor etc. The message needs to be about God and not about some actors (especially Oprahs) real life beliefs that are based on Satans deception. The movie could be very pivotal in many people becoming saved because it answers the question that so many people have asked that has always kept them from becoming believers. I have heard so many people tell me that they can't believe in a loving God that would let this sort of thing happen to a child. I used to wonder about that myself but The Shack did such a wonderful job of explaining the answer. I hope the movie does as good a job of doing that as the book did. angel

I believe that if they do decide to make a movie that maybe perhaps they should think of using people like Kirk Cameron who was in the movie fireproof (wonderful movie btw if you have not seen it yet you should)... perhaps make Papa the woman off of touched by an angel she would be perfect for that part!  Perhaps they could use some of the people off of the love comes softly series which was a wonderful set of people.

Their son is doomed to hell because of their foolish religion? So if someone is deceived by Satan, and they really didnt know they were doing wrong, then doesnt that make it Gods fault for not showing them the right way? Got to love a hell screaming, Im better than you Christian. Do you feel better about yourself after your post?
